To cycle the 1360 miles between Loughborough and Kyiv

This is the exciting new fundraising initiative by Loughborough Amherst School, in support of Ukraine Charity.

Loughborough Applicants is an independent, co-educational school for pupils aged 4-18 in Loughborough in the East Midlands. Each year, they vote for a charity to support for the year and the pupils chose Ukraine Charity for the year 2022-23.

In 2021-22 they raised a little over £8000 for charities, but are hoping to hit the target of £10,000 this time.

Last December they did several pre-Christmas fundraisers, including everyone’s favourite pyjamas-and-a-movie night!

This February in their their swimming lessons, pupils in the prep school, depending upon their age and water confidence, will aim to swim either:

  • 1 length of the swimming pool to represent 1 year that the war has been happening
  • 11 lengths of the swimming pool to represent 11 months that the war has been happening
  • 49 lengths of the swimming pools to represent 49 weeks that the war has been happening.

On Wednesday 8 February, the cloisters of the school will be transformed into a spin bike station as the Senior School aim, as a collective, in a sponsored event, to cycle the 1360 miles between Loughborough and Kyiv.

How will it all happen and what will the results be? We will do our best to keep you updated!
